Golden Master Key Controller turns Rust’s Apartment Master Key into a fully configurable gameplay system.

Keys can be earned through normal gameplay, discovered at hidden world locations, purchased from custom vendors, or carried by a moving armored convoy protected by Heavy Scientists.

Perfect for servers that want Master Keys to feel rare, valuable, and tied to exploration, economy, or events.

Master Key Acquisition

Master Keys can be awarded from:

Harvesting trees
Mining ore nodes
Killing NPCs
Killing animals
Looting containers
Hidden world drops
Roaming NPC vendors
Apartment Security NPCs
Master Key Convoy vendors
Destroying the convoy Bradley APC

Each source can be enabled separately and given its own chance, cooldown behavior, and payment settings.

Hidden Key Drops

Admins can create custom Master Key spawn locations anywhere on the map.

The plugin can:
Rotate through locations randomly
Rotate through locations in order
Relocate the key after a set time
Respect or ignore cooldowns

Useful for scavenger hunts, monument rewards, secret locations, and rare exploration objectives.

Roaming Key Vendors

Spawn custom Heavy Scientist vendors at configured locations.

Vendor settings include:

Custom name
Health and invulnerability
Scrap price
ServerRewards price
Economics price
Custom accepted items
Random or sequential relocation
Automatic removal after a key is purchased

Players receive a custom purchase interface when interacting with the vendor.

Master Key Convoy

The optional convoy event spawns a moving Bradley APC with Heavy Scientist escorts.

The convoy automatically cleans itself up when the event ends.

The plugin can replace Rust’s normal Apartment Security NPC purchase process with a custom CUI.

Cooldowns

Cooldown modes:

You can configure:

Per-player cooldown duration
Global cooldown duration
Maximum keys per player
Maximum keys server-wide
Unlimited keys by setting limits to 0
Cooldown bypasses for individual acquisition sources

Cooldown data survives reloads and restarts.

Adds your current position as a Master Key spawn point.

Removes a saved key spawn point.

Lists all key spawn points.

Adds your current position as a roaming vendor location.

/removenpckey <number>

Removes a saved vendor location.

/listnpcpoints

Lists all vendor locations.

Convoy Commands
/spawnmasterconvoy

Starts the convoy event.

/killmasterconvoy

Immediately removes the active convoy.

Permission

Neither dependency is required when using Scrap or custom-item payments.

Disclaimers
You can disable the Interface for the vanilla apartment security guard if it conflicts with other plugins by going into settings -> general -> Custom Purchase CUI 'off' this only affects the interface for purchases for the vanilla apartment_security.

the "Master Key item shortname": "apartment.master_key", config value. is inteded to be used for servers that may be using custom items for keys. do not change this unless you know what your doing.

The Convoy AI is still being tweaked, but should work for pretty much any server use case. It will choose the longest road on your server, and will patrol it going back and forth if its not a ring road. It has built in features to prevent being stuck in holes, or from buildings being placed in the road(Raidable bases).
