The Resident Permit

As I’m always lurking on the internet for new plugins, it keeps bugging me that some ideas are actually never been developed or even thought of. Most of my ideas I have in mind are PvE related or PvEvP for some blood-pumping risks. One of these ideas is called The Resident Permit plugin. I hope you guys like it.

Before I begin with explaining the plugin its idea and core functions, the person that builds this can do anything he likes with it. You can give me credit for the idea, but anything else is fully up to you, I just like to share some wild thoughts and ideas.

Needed hooks

A few hooks have to be added to this plugin in order to work properly. Economics, Server Rewards, or any other economical/store system would do fine. ZoneManager if possible. Not sure if there is a hook for this.

Introduction

The resident permit plugin allows the player to buy a “Building Permit” so the user is allowed to build a base. Once placed a tool cupboard, the user is able to build after he placed a Building Permit into the Tool Cupboard.

Inside this Tool cupboard, an option is shown called “Building Permit”. After clicking on it, a new window will show up allowing you to deposit money into it. This is your upkeep. No more wood, stone, and Metal clutter. Every block, every foundation, and every floor height will cost you a little bit of money each day. The bigger and more a user builds on his building permit zone, the more he pays.

Your building Permit zone is a fixed zone, everything inside this zone is your property. Would you like to build a small wooden shed without a tool cupboard? well, now you can. The Permit option also allows you to see how far you can build and how big you are allowed to build.

Need of bigger space?

Sometimes, as a landowner, you want to have a good solid clan base or a bigger zone to build on. Upgrading your Permit costs a bit of money, but the zone will be increased, allowing you to build bigger. Do keep in mind, the bigger you build, the more it will cost.

The calculations of the costs can be set by the server owner in the config file. The server owner can choose to include or exclude all tiered base buildings, giving it its own choice on how to use the permit system. Would you like your players to pay more if they upgrade something from stone to metal? or would just a simple wall be enough?

If Permit is unpaid for 48H, the base or building becomes vulnerable to base raiders and thieves, allowing other players to purge the inactive bases from the server. A map marker is shown where this base is located in the base is still untouched after 48H. Yet again, these settings can be done in the config file.

The server owner can choose if all bases should have a marker or only inactive raidable bases. Green markers are paid friendly fellow survivors while orange is unpaid. If a base marker is red, you should avoid it. Pirates aren’t always the best people around the world, even if it’s your clan enemy!. Yet again, these settings can be done in the config file.

Become a hero

Allow the player to become a hero on the server. Hero Points are automatically earned when the user performs certain actions ingame.

  • Swiping the keycard for a puzzle ( with an xx min delay for the people who try to abuse by repeating this step over and over again )
  • Killing NPC
  • Taking out wildlife
  • Doing Missions
  • Obtaining achievements
  • Obtaining rare artifacts
  • Crafting items/weapons/ammo
  • Recycling trash such as empty bean cans or empty tuna cans.

After xx amount of Hero Points, the user becomes a trusty resident, allowing him to have a minor discount on upkeep and permit upgrades. The user will also be notified for being a judge before other players will have a chance.

Become a pirate/criminal

Allow the player to become a Pirate or a criminal on a PvE server. Thief Points are automatically earned when the user performs crimes ingame.

  • Stealing from other players => Their supply signal airdrops.
  • Stealing from other players => Burgling into a house.
  • Stealing from other players => Stealing their pumpkins/corn/hemp and such from the farms.
  • Pickpocket other players their wallets ( possible to hook a wallet system if server owner has cash as an ingame item. )
  • PvP interaction in PvP zones.
  • Stealing their helicopter/boat/horse etc.
  • Robbing the casino ( bandit town or custom location if server owner has its own casino )
  • Hacking the hackable crates
  • Destroying Cobalt Property.

After a fixed amount of Thief points, the user becomes a criminal or pirate. The pirate/criminal cannot kill players in PvE zones, but Resident owners can kill pirates/criminals in order to obtain a bounty if this is set on their heads.

The courthouse

Once a criminal or pirate is been caught or killed, he will be sent to the courthouse. Residents can apply to be a judge and to be sent towards the courthouse to see the criminal themselves and its committed crimes.

The criminal can say his word to say if he is innocent or not. The judge decides in the end. who knows he is innocent as he only has been stealing from cobalt and hacking some crates, but it could also be someone that likes to play it dirty and has been doing some house visiting lately.

If the criminal is guilty of all charges, the player has to pay the number of thief points in cash and a fee to free himself again. No thief points are removed. If the user cannot pay the bills then the user can choose between a few options.

  • A full wipe, meaning that the user will lose its score completely on the leaderboard and has to start over from 0.
  • losing Progression on Blueprints, meaning that the user would have to learn some of the Blueprints again that he learned before.
  • The user will lose XP progression ( if the XP plugin is active on the server )

If the criminal is free of all charges, the user will be able to walk away as a free man. 100% of thief points are removed from the player.

If no judge presented within a few minutes, the courthouse will suspend the trial, allowing the thief to go out freely on its way again.

Residents can help each other to keep an eye on the neighborhood for trouble. Red footsteps are shown with the player name on it who has been sneaking around and has done some recent burgling in there. These footsteps disappear slowly, allowing the thief to go free once the tracks are compromised after a certain amount of time.

The leaderboard

The Resident leaderboard shows several categories where the player can score. Who is a true hero and who is a true criminal? Here is the place you can check out other players and what they are up to.

Leaderboard categories are as follow

  • The total amount of Thief Points
  • The total amount of Hero Points
  • The total amount of being a Judge
  • The total amount of claimed bounties
  • The total amount of Recycled items.
