With the introduction of trains, it'd be great to have vehicles that we could drive on and off roads, so that we can ride up along side the train and jump onboard easily.

The cars in the game will go on and off roads... it's the act of dismounting from one to the other that'd be an issue.
It's doable from the purview of a plugin, but not one I think would be really used a lot.
Looks like this one made it into the game.
